Lynn, Ma: JEFF WALDRON Named NAVS New Head Coach.
Navigator General Manager Peter Delani today announced that Lynn native, Jeff Waldron has been named the new Head Coach of the North Shore Navigators.
Delani said, "Coach Waldron is the right man for the organization going forward. We are excited to add an individual of Jeff's character, professionalism, and with his baseball pedigree."
Waldron was a highly decorated athlete out of Lynn Classical High School, where he is currently an assistant coach with Mike Zukowski who had previously coached with Delani at Masconomet Regional High Schol." Waldron went to Boston College on a full scholarship. The left handed hitting catcher starred for the Eagles, playing in the prestigous Cape Cod League for the Orleans Cardinals. Waldron was drafted following his junior season by the St. Louis Cardinals, but opted not to sign, instead returning for his senior season where he captained the Eagles. Waldron graduated from BC in 1999, and was drafted by the Red Sox. Waldron spent eight years in the minor leagues for the Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers. Waldron made it to AAA in the Pacific Coast League with the Arizona and Texas organizations.
Waldron will be joined on his coaching staff by another Lynn native, Philip Nicoletti, currently an assistant coach at Northern Iowa JC and an Associate Scout with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Steve Coffey played for the Chatam A's in the Cape Cod League and was drafted out of UMass/Boston by the Chicago Cubs where he spent two years in the Cubs organization as a shortstop.
